Seaside Illusions
The seaside calls out to me with
its intoxicating salt sea spray.
But I'm miles away.
Along the shore I see
Mirrored images in my mind.
The gull and tern precede me.
Mother o' pearl sea foam
Glistens in the morning sun.
The wave seemed to blow kisses.
I sit upon a wall, not thinking;
Absorbed in the beauty
Of a rose-blushed sky.
A child's innocent hello surprises.
Echoes of lapping waves
Hypnotize me as evening arrives.
But, I'm miles away.
